Diamond Grinding Cups & Polishing Pads for Tile

Diamond grinding cups and abrasive discs for material removal, edge shaping, and surface preparation on porcelain tile, ceramic, granite, and natural stone. Built for standard 4.5"–5" angle grinders with M14 arbors and Proxxon long-neck grinders — covering everything from aggressive stock removal to fine edge finishing and surface polishing.

Grinding Cups for Angle Grinders

  • 4" Diamond Grinding Cup (DGM-S) — Aggressive material removal and edge shaping on porcelain and granite. The workhorse for surface prep and rough edge work on a standard angle grinder.
  • 2" Diamond Grinding Cup – Nectar (100 Grit) — Fine grinding on porcelain tile and stone edges. Ideal for smoothing and refining after initial cuts.
  • 2" Diamond Grinding Cup – Soft Edge (DGM-S) — Gentle edge finishing without chipping the glaze. The right choice for polished porcelain and glazed ceramic where surface integrity matters.
  • 2" Diamond Grinding Cup (Replaces Grinder Nut) — Compact cup for tile edge finishing that replaces the standard grinder nut — no adapter needed.

Discs for Proxxon Long-Neck Grinders

  • Proxxon Aluminum Oxide Grinding Disc (60 Grit, 50mm) — Aggressive stock removal for use with the Proxxon LHW/E long-neck grinder. Ideal for tight spaces and detail work inaccessible to a standard angle grinder.
  • Proxxon Flap Disc (100 Grit, 50mm) — Smooth finishing and blending for use with the Proxxon LHW/E. Produces a refined surface ready for polishing or grouting.

How to Choose the Right Grinding Cup

  • Aggressive removal needed: Start with the 4" DGM-S cup for fast material removal on hard stone or rough edges.
  • Fine edge finishing: Step down to the 2" Nectar (100 grit) or Soft Edge cup for a smooth, chip-free result on polished surfaces.
  • Glazed or polished tile: Use the Soft Edge cup — it’s designed to finish without damaging the glaze.
  • Tight spaces or detail work: The Proxxon discs and compact 2" cups reach areas a standard grinder can’t.
  • Always pair with dust collection: Dry grinding releases silica dust — use a grinding dust shroud connected to a HEPA vacuum.

Complete your cutting and finishing system with diamond blades for cutting, polishing pads for final surface finishing, and Proxxon precision tools for detail work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a diamond grinding cup used for?

Diamond grinding cups are used for material removal, edge shaping, and surface preparation on hard materials like porcelain tile, granite, concrete, and stone. They attach to an angle grinder and use embedded diamond segments to grind down high spots, smooth rough edges, and prepare surfaces for polishing or grouting.

Can I use a grinding cup on polished porcelain without damaging it?

Yes — but you need the right cup. The Soft Edge (DGM-S) 2" cup is specifically designed for gentle edge finishing on polished and glazed porcelain without chipping or scratching the surface. Avoid aggressive cups on finished surfaces.

Do grinding cups work wet or dry?

Most diamond grinding cups in this collection are designed for dry use with an angle grinder. Always pair dry grinding with a dust shroud and vacuum to control silica dust. Some cups can also be used wet — check individual product listings for wet/dry compatibility.

What arbor size do these grinding cups use?

The 4" and 2" diamond grinding cups are compatible with standard 4.5"–5" angle grinders with M14 arbors unless otherwise noted. The Proxxon discs are designed exclusively for the Proxxon LHW/E 50mm long-neck grinder and are not compatible with standard angle grinders.
